EIGHT teams from ‘Operation B’ of the Fire and Rescue Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, yesterday faced their first ever four kilometres hike for the 7-Hill Challenge, at the Si Pinang Hill at Taman Tasek Serubing, Kampong Belimbing.

Present as the guest of honour to launch the inaugural hill endurance challenge was Awg Yahya bin Hj Abd Rahman, Director of the Fire and Rescue Department. Also present during the event were senior officials as well as staff members of the Fire and Rescue Department

The morning event began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, and was then followed with the introduction of participants representing each of their Fire and Rescue Department branches to the guest of honour.

The event then continued with a morning warm-up aerobic exercise prior to the launching of the first stage of the 7-Hill Challenge by the guest of honour. Towards the end of the challenge yesterday, a prize presentation ceremony was also handed over by the guest of honour to the winners of the hill challenge yesterday.

This 7-Hill Challenge will be held in all four districts across the country in stages that will be operated by each branch.
